The polarizing reality star Simon Cowell brought his hit television show THE X FACTOR to America and needed interactives that engaged fans as well lived up to the show's big time reputation. The Aardvark Brigade worked with the incredible team at Sony Music from inception to completion to create a web presence and tablet app that set THE X FACTOR apart from other shows in the space.
THE X FACTOR website encompassed six iterations, each of which supported the different phases of the show. All phases focused on fan social interaction and growing THE X FACTOR online community. Interactive features included a social aggregating fan feed, community surfaced content and unique incentives to help promote social interaction. All this functionality was wrapped up in a glamorous eye catching design inspired by the over the top production of the live show.
The second but no less important part of the project was an innovative tablet app. The Xtra factor app was designed to give fans easy access content on either an IOS or Android device. The App synced with the TV show to give user real time content about their favorite contestants or judges. Users could also utilize the app to rate performances, vote and interact with other X FACTOR fans.
Almost an entire year of planning and design resulted a program that exceeded expectations even those of the hard to please Simon Cowell.
